Start with Fixed Anchors
Place immovable events first: meetings, commute, classes, and external deadlines. Evaluate remaining free windows rather than an abstract 8-hour block.
Respect your regular start and end times. A plan requiring waking up hours earlier or working late into the night rarely proves sustainable.
Select One Primary Focus Task
Assign your main task to your best available energy window when focus is high and interruptions are low. Avoid defaulting this time to email processing.
Add at most two supporting tasks. If time remains afterward, handle small chores without making extra items mandatory.
Build a Sustainable Rhythm
Alternate deep work, communication, and short breaks. Group administrative chores into a single block to avoid checking notifications constantly.
Leave 10–15 minutes between meetings to record action items and transition context calmly.
End the Day with Decisions, Not Guilt
Check off completed items, and process remaining tasks intentionally: reschedule, reduce, delegate, or delete. Avoid rolling everything over automatically.
Log one key insight: what took longer than expected, where energy flagged, or which window was most productive.
